Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Steve Schiefer

Dr. Schiefer is a Leamington native and a graduate of the University of Waterloo in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science, Pre-Optometry/Pre Health.
He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2008 from Chicago's Illinois College of Optometry.
Today, he lives in Leamington with his wife and three children and enjoys participating in and coaching various sporting activities, music, reading, and playing chess. You may see him running early in the morning or at the local ball diamonds or ice rinks.
Dr. Symons is a Windsor-Essex County native as she was raised in Leamington, Ontario. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences degree with distinction. In 2023, Dr. Symons earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with Dean’s Honours from the University of Waterloo. She was awarded the Alcon Award for Excellence in Contact Lenses for being the top student both clinically and academically in contact lens care. Dr. Symons also received the E. F. Attridge Award for highest ranking in general and ocular disease. During her optometric training in Alberta, she acquired extensive experience managing advanced ocular diseases and providing emergency eye care. In Woodstock, Ontario, she provided comprehensive eye examination to patients of all ages - from pediatrics to seniors!
Dr. Symons is passionate about patient centered care and providing full scope practice. Her specific interests include ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetes. She also loves working with babies and children. She is excited to finally move back to her hometown of Leamington and provide care for her local community.
Outside of the office, she enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. Dr. Symons is accepting new patients and looks forward to caring for all your vision needs!

Exceptional Doctor.
Exceptional doctor. Very informative and wonderful with children. My daughters enjoy going for their eye exams. He has been a huge help to my mother who suffers from an eye disease; which has gone undiscovered for years until seeing Dr. Schiefer. He ensured the proper diagnoses and treatment plan was made. Thanks to his amazing care and thoroughness, her eye disease is now in remission. Very thankful for Dr. Schiefer and his wonderful staff.
